Time Traveler

Time Traveler

The future is always now.
We travel to the future,
All the time.
We are all time travelers.
We are suspended in a constant future
That is unfolding.
Time’s many folds are made of futures.
So, what is the past?
How do we travel backwards?
We don’t.
We can’t.
The past is always a forsaken place,
Without doors.
Time cannot find it.
It’s always, instead, looking for your future,
Capturing it.
You could say Time’s collection of futures
Is the tome of the past.
But really, the past is a shadow of the future,
An illusion.
Even when you shine the present,
The light, on the past,
You merely get a wave,
Of good-by.
There is no past to go back to.
It is gone.
It is the only way time dies.
Time is a one-way show, fortunately.
We weep over a past we etched,
Over a decision we didn’t take,
Over a decision we did.
But time, time weeps over a past
Forever lost.
The only time, time weeps, is over
Time passed, time’s past.
At least we have our memories.
Time envies us.
It doesn’t even have that.
Time is not a traveler.
Time is always a destination.
We travel towards it,
And sometimes we remember
That Once Upon a Time,
We were ahead.
The greatest lie ever told,
Is that we have time.
But, travel, my friend, travel.
It is the only way.
