Message for my Son

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal.”
~1 Corinthians 13:1

Message for my Son

What makes us us?
Son, what and how we feel
Define almost everything we do
And become.
Emotions are messages
From our core that transform
Into thoughts and behaviors.
We are a yarn ball of threaded feelings,
Unravelling into actions.
Everything transforms.
Every action has a base feeling
That elicits a reaction.
For every action there is a reaction,
And for every reaction there is another action,
Not necessarily equal or opposite,
Although sometimes both.
This is the circle of conduct in men.
We cannot be still.
We are constantly feeling
The Earth, the space we inhabit,
The times created by the men around us.
We transform ourselves
With every breath.
Try to exhale more than you inhale.
Offer to the Universe more.
Tell it you were here and gave back.
Exist generously.
Create good times by reacting positively.
Make lists: to-do lists, to-read lists, bucket lists.
Make lists daily.
Journal.
Son, remember that “no” is the biggest boundary.
Try not to think in Yeses or Nos.
Think in hows and how much?
How much effort will it take to build yourself?
You must build yourself like you build friends.
To build, Son, you must learn to trust.
Trust yourself by creating strong habits.
Trust others by finding out their habits.
Play nicely, but not at the expense of falling behind.
Try to win or finish strong by following the winner.
Son, the world these days has gotten smaller.
You might meet men that are far,
Far geographically, in age, or ahead in life,
Men far who you would not meet otherwise.
Listen closely to them.
Listen and learn what you can.
Never stop learning or asking questions.
Let curiosity lead you to build an empire of dreams.
Know exactly what you’re doing when you’re doing it,
By knowing what you’re feeling when you’re feeling it.
Son, feel deeply.
Let yourself feel as deeply as the deepest trench
Of your being allows.
Go to the deepest places and explore.
Excavate where you can.
Be free to explore yourself and become greater.
Son, you are already great at the terrible age of two.
I cannot wait for you to read this one day,
Perhaps when you are twelve.
I hope you read and re-read this
And walk away feeling something new each time,
Acting consequently differently with each new awakening.
Be awake as long as possible on this journey,
And remember, the greatest of these,
Is love.

Let Me Count

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”
~Elizabeth Barret Browning

Let Me Count

One person won’t stop me,
Ten people even less;
Forty people will motivate me.
I draw the line at One-Hundred
People to love.
If love had a limit,
Flowers would never bloom again.
But love blooms,
Love blooms all over the world,
And the limits move, again and again.
I don’t know how many people I love.
Let me instead count the ways.
If I start to count, however,
I will have to end somewhere.
No, I love people.
That is enough.
But I do love people who love me back.
I love people;
Let me not count the ways,
Or the days,
Or who stays.
I love people.
But you, my darling Daniel,
Only You would I die for today.

Yo he vivido escribiendo
Historias en mi cabeza.
¿Qué es la historia?
La historia es una locura vivida.
Quien fuera testigo de mi locura
Sabría que mi historia
Comenzó en realidad
Con mi vida.
Desde el 1991
Estoy loca.
Nací loca.
Con la locura se nace
Por suerte.
Y mi hijo también tendrá
De locura, ya sea un poco
De la mía, o de la suya propia.
¡Que lindo es vivir así!
Pocos me entenderán,
Tal vez más de la cuenta,
Tal vez muchos,
Pero nacer loco
Es una bendición
En un mundo que está
Aun mas loco en su cordura.
Todos caminamos sobre una cuerda floja,
Pero yo a veces salto,
A veces escalo,
A nuevas cuerdas.
Hay quienes se quedan toda la vida
En la misma.
Por suerte el mundo es mundo,
Y hay de todo en el mundo
Y para todo el mundo.
Nací loca.
Soy de este mundo
Pero de otro mundo
En este mundo.

Weston

Weston

I now live in a big house with a lake view.
I used to live in an apartment in Brickell, the New New York.
I used to live poorly in West Miami.
I loved living with my mother in Homestead.
I oh so loved Manhattan.
Paris was fun too.
It doesn’t matter where you live,
As long as you live.
The West is in a struggle,
But I live in West-on.
We will West-on.
It’s not about the geography;
It’s about the people.
I’m surrounded by my kind of people.
I live with the best people
In the World.
And my son is the best
Person in my world.
I now live in a big house
With my son.
I am happy.

Nadie me Cree

Oh! I love Him! … My God, I love You!
~St. Therese of Lisieux, Last Words

Nadie me Cree

Pero Dios sabe.
Dios sabe mi última
Palabra
Mejor que mi último
Día.
Me intentaron matar,
No sé si en vida o en mi cabeza.
Pero Dios me conoce
Y me salvó.
Nadie me Cree,
Excepto mi Madre.
Todos tenemos los días contados;
Tuve miedo no sé bien por qué,
Ya que esto lo he sabido hace mucho
Tiempo.
El instinto de Vivir es muy fuerte,
Por suerte.
Sobreviví y me sobrevivieron.
Dios sabe nuestras palabras
Porque nos conoce bien.
El Diablo sabe nuestro día,
Y lleva la cuenta.
Para Dios la matemática no existe;
Somos eternos.
Tengo muchas preguntas
Para Él.
Abrumo a mi madre,
A mi padre,
A personas que me conocen
Con preguntas,
Incógnitas que me persiguen
Sobre todo, por las noches
Y me roban el dulce sueño
De restauración.
Y por supuesto,
Ellos no tienen esas respuestas
Que busco.
Sólo Dios sabe,
Cómo, dónde, y cuándo
Sucedieron los Hechos.
Y me resucitó.
Pero tengo tantas preguntas
Todavía.
Nadie me Cree
Que si o sí estoy Loca.
Por hoy,
Esta Cuerda de la vida,
Está agradecida.
Ya sé,
Esa es mi última palabra.
Gracias.

High on my Higgs

High on my Higgs

Your light pulls me in.
Light is not a force,
But when you absorb it, it is.
When I absorb your light,
Emitted from your mass at speeds
That break the constant,
I know assuredly that you and I are in the same field,
Massively about 2 create a new atom.
Colliding with you is not
Just something that happened to me.
The light in me chose to interact with you
Because you are the only Higgs Boson of my field.
I’m high on you, stacked with you, intangled.
Enamored is a word your light touches.
I’m high on you, backed by you, inergized.
We are only a force because we are together.
Physics has nothing on us.

El Atajo

El Atajo

Siempre he tenido el presentimiento
Que moriré joven, que mi camino
Al cielo es más corto.
Pero por si acaso no me muero,
Te cuento que el atajo
Es desprenderse del cuerpo,
Es perder el miedo,
No a morir,
Sino a vivir.
El atajo siempre es
Vivir,
Vivir
Como si vivieras
Para siempre.
