Podcast Poetry Part 1 #433 - Lex Fridman interviews Sara Walker

Is the origin of life vital or material?

Does all matter matter?

Does all energy energize?

Is the origin of life or its destination more important?

If the origin is the past, life is the present, and death is the future, and if it’s all a cycle, where can we collectively cause a break? Only through how we live? Only by beating death? Or by changing the origins?

There’s no bottom to mystery. Even as one understands, one still wonders the so what…

Is the truth a pattern?

Are we born with the truth as a seed or does the seed get planted in time?

Or are the lies the seeds and the truth the seedlings?

No, the truth predates lies.

In the beginning, there was truth…

Therefore, are we truests in the beginning, at the origin?

And if so, if there is nothing more true than an infant, when and how do the lies get manufactured?

Would a world without lies, without error, prosper or quickly extinguish?

The best lies are counterparts to truths, they are mostly true, and then tweaked in the details… the details are the fall of man.

Lies are magical and we have been both the magician and the audience.

How do we invent the right material concept to describe life?

And if life is not static but in motion, then the debate must continue and cannot end at a concept.

Welcome to the Earth Jungle, where the Universe explores possibilities of life and death, creatively. Even the fittest don’t survive, even parasites are alive. But be glad you got your chance.

If life is self-sustaining, it must also be self-destroying. There are layers of senses of self we can use to classify life. The greater your sense of self, the greater your awareness of mortality and of your own agency, the higher you are in the chain of life.

Evolution feels rainy. Darwin probably liked rain.

We are not primarily chemical systems although we are made of chemistry. We are primarily nuclear systems, atomic cells bombing space and expanding time.

Language is alive, but is not life.

Alive > Life

The Universe is still under Construction.
