“[Who can] show
the sun with a lantern[?]”

Towers
Whilst you stand atop
Your Ivory tower
I build my Paper tower.
I started after you,
But I chose paper.
You say it’s weaker,
But I say it gives me
Something to do each day.
Every day I must rebuild it.
Every day I can fill its walls
Easily with strokes of my hands.
You say it’s weaker because
It cannot withstand the weather.
I tell you,
I am the weather,
And that your tower cannot feel.
You stop and think,
And say it’s weaker.
I stop and feel,
And simply don’t care
What you think.
I build my Paper tower.
I started after you,
But I chose paper.
You say it’s weaker,
But I say it gives me
Something to do each day.
Every day I must rebuild it.
Every day I can fill its walls
Easily with strokes of my hands.
You say it’s weaker because
It cannot withstand the weather.
I tell you,
I am the weather,
And that your tower cannot feel.
You stop and think,
And say it’s weaker.
I stop and feel,
And simply don’t care
What you think.
