“The surface of
American society is covered with a layer of democratic paint, but from time to
time one can see the old aristocratic colors breaking through.”
~Alexis De Tocqueville
Democracy
in America
What is democracy
in America?
These days it’s not so clear.
What is the weight of one vote in a mailbox or in a machine?
Misinformation and disinformation
Are the new definitions used for censorship techniques.
Censorship is like a ship that passes,
But free speech is the indomitable sea.
The First Amendment is under siege,
But how to awaken those who still don’t see?
You can’t have democracy without freedom
From the three:
Censorship, Control, and Communism.
Capitalism is the Core,
Cherish our Constitution,
Lest America become an Empire of yore.
What is democracy in America?
Surely, it’s something dear,
What is democracy in America?
It’s you, and me, and everyone in between,
Having the freedom to speak and question,
And demand and choose and compete,
And these days,
Even just be.
